Kalou Dubus, who graduated from decorative art school of Paris (ENSAD), dedicated herself in the early 2000s to textile design, creating her own collection and multiplying collaborations with various brands and trend forecasting offices. After many decoration projects and photoshoot set designs, she created her own fashion brand, « Nico». It’s DNA: print. Moving away from clothing to objects and pursuing her work on shape and colours, the designer is now exploring new territories such as ceramic and semi-precious stones. Going back to fundamentals and raw materials, she launched a line of concrete lamps inlaid with agate and smoked rock crystals in September 2016. The lamps were followed by a series of ceramic vases and concrete planters.

During summer 2019, a selection of 30 pieces was displayed at the Vaste Horizon gallery in Arles, as part “Block Party”, an exhibition designed in duo with the photographer Fred Lebain.

Through alternating supports and playing with patterns, shapes, and colours, Kalou Dubus’ pieces draw on the 1970s aesthetic vocabulary to stand out by their plastic strength, half-way between the object of art, crafts, and design.

Since 2019, Kalou is represented by the Parisian gallery Desprez & Breheret.
